Why take part in the CAREER KICK off project?
Young people from different European countries face the same challenge: they finish high school and very often have to start working in order to be at least partially independent during their studies. Unfortunately, the formal education system does not support them
fully in the process of acquiring the skills necessary to get the first job, understanding the skills necessary
in a given profession. Often at school, students do not learn such simple things as writing their first curriculum or cover letter. Very often, young people do not understand the legal requirements for a first job, nor the skills they should have to have a better chance of success in getting a job. This problem is also confirmed by research. A report published in 2021 by Generation Unlimited, PwC and UNICEF on the Youth Employment and Skilling Challenge notes that young people aged 15-24 are unable to identify what skills they need to
have employment opportunities in the future. Soft skills in the workplace are becoming more and more important as organizations look for added value to their operations. A survey conducted by Wonderlic (2021) found that 93% of hiring leaders said soft skills are "essential" or "very important" when making hiring decisions.
DesignCAREER KICK offmeets the challenges of young people and helps in gaining practical skills.
